{"id":980,"date":"2021-11-25T19:42:12","date_gmt":"2021-11-25T17:42:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.itsmylife.gr\/?p=980"},"modified":"2021-11-25T19:42:12","modified_gmt":"2021-11-25T17:42:12","slug":"my-blog-love-true-love-should-not-hurt","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.itsmylife.gr\/en\/my-blog-love-true-love-should-not-hurt\/","title":{"rendered":"Love, true love, should not hurt."},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wpb-content-wrapper\"><p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]<span style=\"color: #96c93e;\">Violence against\u00a0women\u00a0and girls is a fact that crosses all boundaries across the world.<\/span> Research shows that nearly <span style=\"color: #96c93e;\">1 in 3 women<\/span> have\u00a0been abused in their lifetime\u00a0mostly by their intimate\u00a0partner.\u00a0<span style=\"color: #96c93e;\">During the COVID<\/span> pandemic\u00a0these numbers have increased\u00a0&#8211;\u00a0<span style=\"color: #96c93e;\">2 in 3 women\u00a0\u2013 as domestic violence has been on the rise.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Violence against women and girls is one of the most persistent and widespread <span style=\"color: #96c93e;\">human rights violation<\/span> in the world. <span style=\"color: #96c93e;\">Whether physically, sexually, emotionally or verbally\u00a0women and girls\u00a0are intimidated,\u00a0harassed,\u00a0exploited\u00a0and killed when they speak out<\/span>.\u00a0Young girls, older women, refugees, women of minorities, women with disabilities and women with gender issues are more easily manipulated.<\/p>\n<p>However, women\u00a0and girls\u00a0all around the world must be able to talk and need to be heard instead of having their voice silenced.<\/p>\n<p>Education is, in my opinion, the most significant key to this\u00a0scourge. And we, parents, play a major role in <span style=\"color: #96c93e;\">educating our children both girls and boys.<\/span> Because it\u2019s not only girls that need to know they have equal rights to boys; it\u2019s also boys that need to learn that respect, equality and development applies to both genders.<\/p>\n<p>Violence begins at home. <span style=\"color: #96c93e;\">Children mirror our behavior.<\/span> When children watch their father being abusive to their mother and their mother staying silent in this relationship they get the message; the wrong message. And they will repeat it as victimizers and victims.<\/p>\n<p>So it is imperative that we, as parents but also as teachers and authorities, educate our girls, our daughters first. We need to teach them<span style=\"color: #96c93e;\"> what true love really is<\/span>:<\/p>\n<p>Love is all about <span style=\"color: #96c93e;\">giving the space<\/span> to the other person to grow and evolve and to support them even when we may not agree with their choices.<\/p>\n<p>Love, real love,<span style=\"color: #96c93e;\"> should not hurt or harm us<\/span> in any way.<\/p>\n<p>Love <span style=\"color: #96c93e;\">should not make us do something against our will.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Love <span style=\"color: #96c93e;\">should not make us feel dirty or guilty.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Love should not imprison us. On the contrary, it <span style=\"color: #96c93e;\">gives us wings to fly.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Love <span style=\"color: #96c93e;\">includes respect.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Love is <span style=\"color: #96c93e;\">a beautiful, warm feeling;<\/span> not one we want to run away from.<\/p>\n<p>There is no prosperity or growth unless we end violence\u00a0against girls and women. Let\u2019s educate our girls &#8211; and boys \u2013 so as not to have violence as a continuous obstacle to equality and development.
